We get this one a lot! We’re still applying finishing touches and waiting on a few license transfers etc. but everything going to plan (which obviously it definitely 100% will) then we’ll pour our first pints in late October.

Just a nice little pub. A spot for hot chips and a pint of Guinness or a glass of wine and a couple oysters. Drop in, drop out, come as you are. Somewhere to play a game of pool on a rainy day or celebrate a birthday. We’ll have a full Aussie pub menu but this is not going to be a restaurant - more of a “take a number and help yourself to some tomato sauce” type situation.

We’d love that. If you are looking for kitchen or bar work from late October please reach out to jobs@thenorthernhotel.com.au
Experience is less necessary than attitude, but all front of house applicants must have their RSA and all applicants will need to have legal working rights. -
For sure. We will keep the public bar free for walk ins but have a little dining room available to book for lunch or dinner. We’ll also have dedicated function space for events with more info to come

Not heaps really! We have always loved the bones of this old building so a lot of the work has just been boring and restorative (plumbing, electrical, flooring etc.).
The main difference is we’ve knocked through to a previously unused back area for a pool table and a couple extra seats. We’ve also expanded our footpath dining a little bit for the occasional pink lemonade in the afternoon sun with petrol station views.
We have pipe dreams of rooms upstairs and a beer garden out the back but we’ll need to fill what we’ve got first. -
Long time hospitality pro Nadine Mcleod (Nadsy) will run the pub and the food menu is designed by Sam Kane (ex- Berts, The Corner).
The venue is independently owned by Newport local Paul Fraser who previously founded and operated the JB & Sons shops and before that Hemingway’s in Manly (and way way before that collected your glasses at Mona Pub on a Thursday).
